Mohammad Alramahi jumped out of his mom’s car Friday morning wearing a (former Bears linebacker) Khalil Mack jersey and a grin from ear to ear.
It was the first day of school and the seventh-grader was teeming with excitement about seeing his friends and teachers at Conrady Junior High School.
“I’m excited about school starting,” Mohammad said while hurrying to the front door. “I’m looking forward to being in seventh grade this year."
At Glen Oaks School, Halina Michalczewska was walking her two children to school. Maggie, 9, and Robert, 8, were happy to be starting classes. Both were thrilled to being back in school and with their friends.
“I can't wait to see my friends and my teacher,” Maggie said. Asked what her teacher’s name is, she said: “I don’t know but (the teacher) is a boy.”
At Oak Ridge School, new principal Stephanie Johnson was assisting outside with student dropoff behind the school.
Inside the school, teachers and staff were in hallways greeting students as they entered the building wearing backpacks and smiles.
Overall, a pretty good first day.
