Hundreds of people laced up their running shoes and stretched out their hamstrings Saturday morning as they joined family, friends and colleagues while traversing the steep streets of Hickory Hills during the Howl Through the Hills 5K Run/Walk.
Sunshine and low-60-degree temperatures greeted the runners who ranged from children to seniors and everywhere in between. Participants ran and walked the course. Some talked to friends while leisurely strolling the course while others had laser focus as they charged through the course.
COVID put the event on hold the last two years.
Many of the participants were students, parents, teachers and staff from North Palos School District 117 which has regularly had a strong presence at the event.
