Declamation

Welcome to Declamations

Below you will find the traditional explanation of Declamations, however this is not a traditional year.  This year we will be learning more about the world of competitive speech and Improvisation.  The season this year will span only 2-3 weeks, but will be packed with lots of information and laughs.  We will be starting Thursday, February 4th.  See you there.

Declamations is an extracurricular activity that helps students develop performance skills on a one-to-one and small group basis.  Students choose one of six categories for competitive speech--Dramatic Interpretation, Comedy Duet, Comedic Interpretation, Prose Reading, Poetry Reading, and Oration.  The Declamations season runs from January to April with meetings and coaching sessions during the week agreed upon by participants. Seven participants will be chosen to participate in the SWIC Declamations Competition.

The SWIC Declamations tournament takes place in April at various schools in the southwest circuit.
